The quarterly IFTA report

A quarterly IFTA report is the tax return for the previous calendar quarter, filed with your base jurisdiction. You file it even when the truck did not move and even when no taxable fuel was used. The return uses the current rate matrix, and this page does not list those rates. Check the official IFTA site. Not tax advice.

Which quarter

A quarterly IFTA report covers the previous calendar quarter. That means January 1 to March 31, April 1 to June 30, July 1 to September 30, or October 1 to December 31. See quarter dates for the timing in one place.

What you report

The return reports total distance and fuel for the quarter, using the current tax rates from your base jurisdiction. Total distance means all miles or kilometers traveled in the tax reporting period by every qualified vehicle in the fleet, whether or not a jurisdiction treats those miles as taxable. For a simple checklist, try the quarter checklist or read what an IFTA fuel tax report is.

A blank quarter

A quarterly tax return is still required even if no operations were conducted or no taxable fuel was used during the period. If you want a place to gather records before filing, see the quarterly packet.

Not tax advice. Haulbook is not IFTA, Inc. and not your base jurisdiction. The rate is published quarterly by IFTA and must be checked on the official IFTA site.
