The four periods
IFTA quarter dates are the four calendar reporting periods: January 1 to March 31, April 1 to June 30, July 1 to September 30, and October 1 to December 31. If you are tracking a filing cycle, our how to file IFTA guide and quarterly report page can help keep the steps in order.
The due date rule
The return and full payment are due on the last day of the month after the reporting period ends. For example, IFTA Q3 covers July 1 to September 30, and the due date is the last day of October. If that day is a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the next business day is the due date. Use the quarter checklist to stay organized before you file.
A zero quarter
You still file even if no operations were conducted or no taxable fuel was used during the period. If you have a question that does not fit the main steps, check the FAQ for more guidance.
Not tax advice. Haulbook is not IFTA, Inc. and not your base jurisdiction. The rate is published quarterly by IFTA and must be checked on the official IFTA site.
