Keep IFTA miles by jurisdiction

An IFTA mileage tracker needs distance by jurisdiction plus total distance for the quarter. This page covers what to record, why total distance matters, and how the app will keep trip-leg rows on the phone without turning miles into a tax amount.

What to record

To keep track of IFTA miles, record the jurisdiction, the distance, and the date range for each trip leg. If you also need a reference for how those miles fit into a return, see IFTA mileage by jurisdiction and the quarterly report guide.

Total distance

Total distance includes all miles or kilometers traveled in the tax reporting period by every qualified vehicle in the fleet, whether or not a jurisdiction treats those miles as taxable. A quarterly tax reporting period runs January 1 to March 31, April 1 to June 30, July 1 to September 30, or October 1 to December 31. For trip math support, visit miles and gallons.

How the app will help

The app will store one row per trip leg on the phone and let you filter by quarter. That makes it easier to review totals before you export records or compare them with the rest of your fleet history. You can also browse the rest of the product at features.

Not tax advice. Haulbook is not IFTA, Inc. and not your base jurisdiction. The rate is published quarterly by IFTA and must be checked on the official IFTA site.
